OUR OFFICES

Carter Orthopedics has offices in Erie, Titusville, and Hermitage, which are all accredited by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Pedorthics (ABC).

The ABC serves as the O&P field’s accreditation and certification body. For a facility to obtain the board’s highly-valued certification, a thorough investigation and evaluation must be completed by board-chosen surveyors. Carter’s support staff and practitioners put in extra effort to achieve the highest marks possible in all areas of the accreditation process, including organizational management, professional staff qualifications and responsibilities, patient care management, quality assessment and improvement, and facility and safety management.

OFFICE VISITS

At Carter Orthopedics, patients are treated by a team member dedicated to their care and rehabilitation. Staff members make assessments of patients’ needs based on the physician's prescription and then discuss it with the patient. The best design is then determined based on the patient’s needs, functional level, and goals. The prosthesis is delivered in the most cost-effective manner possible without sacrificing quality or service.

Initial evaluation and follow-up appointments are provided at no charge. A new patient is contacted within 24 hours of the initial order and generally fitted with a preparatory prosthesis within a week. Private consultation and fitting rooms are maintained, along with a demonstration area for patient acclimation, since patient education is a definite priority.

New patients are invited to visit the offices to familiarize themselves with Carter’s services and to meet the staff.

INSURANCE AND PAYMENT POLICIES

At Carter Orthopedics, initial patient evaluations and consultations are always complimentary. We hold more contracts with third-party payors, such as managed care and health maintenance organizations, than any other orthotic and prosthetic providers in the greater Erie area.
